Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about partnerships, sponsorship, advertising, careers, and working with MMK Consult.
About Partnerships
What types of organisations can partner with MMK Consult?
We partner with a diverse range of organisations including NGOs, development finance institutions (DFIs), government agencies, academic institutions, private sector companies, foundations, and think tanks. Any organisation working on research, development, or evidence-based decision-making in African markets can explore partnership opportunities with us.
How long does the partnership process typically take?
After submitting an expression of interest, we review all enquiries and respond within five working days. The timeline for finalising a partnership depends on the scope and complexity of the proposed collaboration, but most partnerships are formalised within 2-4 weeks of initial contact.
Does MMK Consult compromise research independence through partnerships?
No. Research independence is non-negotiable. We do not enter partnerships that require us to endorse findings before they're reviewed, compromise editorial freedom, or create conflicts of interest with existing clients. All partnership arrangements are transparently disclosed in any co-produced publications.
Can we do joint research and co-author publications?
Yes. Research co-production is one of our core partnership areas. We work with partner organisations on joint primary research, co-authored publications, and shared field data collection. Partners typically bring sector expertise and stakeholder access, while MMK brings fieldwork capacity and analytical rigour.
Do you offer training and capacity building?
Yes. We deliver structured training programmes on research methods, financial analysis, data quality, and evidence synthesis. Training can be delivered remotely or in-country across Africa, and is customised to the needs of partner organisations.
About Sponsorship
What does sponsorship cover?
Sponsorship can cover research projects, publications, field evidence, events, and training programmes. Scope is discussed case by case so the support fits the work, the sponsor's objectives, and MMK's independence standards.
Does sponsorship influence editorial decisions?
Absolutely not. Sponsors do not influence our research conclusions, publication decisions, or editorial positions. We explicitly disclose all sponsorship arrangements in publications. We do not accept sponsorship from organisations whose interests conflict with our research or clients.
What's included in each sponsorship tier?
Our sponsorship pathways include community evidence support, field evidence sponsorship, publication and knowledge partnership, training support, and strategic institutional sponsorship. Visibility, reporting, and outputs are agreed only after MMK reviews fit and independence safeguards.
How many subscribers reach MMK Insights newsletter?
MMK Insights is a growing professional audience of readers interested in evidence-led strategy, research, finance, data, development, and African markets. We avoid publishing unsupported audience-size claims and share relevant placement details during advertising or sponsorship discussions.
About Advertising
What advertising options are available?
We offer four main advertising options: newsletter placement, website banner advertising, insights article sponsorship, and report or publication placements. Rates and availability are shared on request. All advertising is clearly labelled and editorially independent.
What's your advertising policy?
We maintain strict editorial independence in advertising. All advertisements are clearly labelled, we don't accept false or misleading claims, and we don't accept ads from organisations whose products conflict with our editorial positions. Advertisers do not influence editorial content. We comply with UK Advertising Standards Authority guidelines.
Do you target advertising to individual users?
No. We don't sell audience data to advertisers. Placements are based on site-wide reach, not individual targeting. This protects reader privacy while delivering your message to a high-quality, professional audience working on African markets.
About Careers & Volunteering
What roles are currently available?
We typically offer internships in research and analysis (3-6 months, rolling applications), contractor roles for specialist consultants, and volunteer positions for data and research support (flexible hours). Check our careers page for current opportunities and express interest forms.
Is remote work available?
Yes. All positions (internships, contractor roles, and volunteer positions) are available remotely. We work with talented people across Africa and globally, so location is not a barrier.
What experience do you look for?
We look for curiosity, self-direction, strong analytical thinking, and attention to detail. Sector knowledge about African markets is helpful but not required. We value intellectual rigour and people who care about evidence quality above specific experience levels.
Do you offer feedback and references for volunteers?
Yes. We provide structured feedback to all volunteers and issue reference letters on completion of your volunteering period. Many volunteers go on to internship or contractor roles with MMK or use their volunteer experience to advance their careers elsewhere.
